Lisa Marie Naegle (36) and Jackie Jerome Rogers (34) pictured together at a party just hours before Jackie murdered Lisa-Marie and buried her in a shallow grave in his backyard.

At the tail-end of 2016, Lisa-Marie had a lot going on in her life. Previously a contestant on the E! Network show Bridalplasty, Lisa-Marie was now working as a nursing instructor. She and her husband, Derek Harryman, were also planning on having a child. However, Lisa-Marie was also having an affair with one of her nursing students: Jackie Jerome Rogers. Her husband Derek did not know about the affair, but Lisa-Marie’s siblings were aware of it.

On December 18th, 2016, Lisa-Marie told Derek that she was going to a birthday party at the Alpine Village bar in Torrance, California, with her brother. That statement was only partially truthful—Lisa-Marie did attend a party in Torrance, but she was with Rogers, not her brother. Around 2:30am, Lisa-Marie received a text from her husband asking where she was. She told him that she was getting food and then coming home. When she didn’t show up, her husband assumed that she stayed at her brother’s place after having too much to drink.

Lisa’s sister Danielle Naegle-Kaimoana was alerted when Lisa-Marie did not show up for work the following day. According to Danielle, this was very uncharacteristic of Lisa-Marie and the family immediately went to report her missing. Danielle said that the police told her a person needed to be missing for at least 72 hours before they could investigate. Since the family was aware that Lisa-Marie went to a party with Rogers before vanishing, they decided to reach out to him themselves. He told them that he had driven Lisa-Marie to the party but had left her there when he got tired. Meanwhile, as the Naegle’s continued to question Rogers, a family friend went over to the restaurant in Torrance where the party was held. The friend was able to view the surveillance footage from that night, which revealed that Rogers and Lisa-Marie actually left the party together—even though he told the Naegle’s that he left the party alone.

The Naegle’s turned the surveillance footage over to the LAPD, who brought Rogers in for questioning the following day. While there, Rogers cracked and told police where Lisa-Marie’s body could be found. He was then arrested on suspicion of murder as investigators went to said location and recovered Lisa-Marie’s remains. After his arrest, Rogers confessed what happened that night. He told investigators that he struck Lisa-Marie in the head with a hammer repeatedly after she told him that she wanted to break-up and resume a monogamous relationship with her husband.

Despite confessing to this horrific crime, Rogers pleaded not guilty to murdering Lisa-Marie. He went to trial in September 2018 and was ultimately convicted for the murder of Lisa Marie Naegle. For unclear reasons, the trial got very little attention in the media. In fact, online articles about the case only began circulating after Rogers was convicted. Rogers currently remains behind bars as he awaits sentencing.

As the twentieth anniversary of her death approached, several of people who knew JonBenet came forward to share memories of happier times. When asked about what she thought JonBenet would be like at the age of twenty-six, Brandi, a friend from her dance troupe, replied, “She would be the older version of her six-year-old self. She’d be a confident girl. She’d be beautiful, and she would enjoy everything that she chose to do in life.”

I asked him again, if I would have fit the bill for his murder spree. He was quiet for a moment. When he spoke again, I hardly recognized the voice. I thought someone else had taken the phone. In almost a whisper, he said “if the circumstances were right”. This time it was my time to be silent. “Did you expect me to say anything else?” he laughed at me. “Of course, I would have. You aren’t special.” He laughed again in this new dark voice Id never heard. “Do you think we’re friends, Kelly?” We are not.” More laughter. He was clearly enjoying himself.

Richard Ramirez gave me the clearest picture I have ever had of what a real monster is. I thought I had built a relationship with him and while I probably did, it would not have saved my life. Had the circumstances been right, I would have been his victim.

Albert Fentress - Cannibal Teacher

Thirty-nine year old Albert Fentress of Poughkeepsie, New York, was widely considered to be a fantastic history teacher, but his colleagues at the middle school where he taught found him strange and aloof outside the classroom. There were whispers he was a little too fond of the boys he taught, and that he had latent homosexual tendencies. These rumors resulted in Fentress’ house being ransacked and the word ‘FAIRY’ being burnt into his front lawn. To protect himself and his home, Fentress purchased a .38 handgun in May 1979.

Just three months after aquiring the gun, on August 19, 1979, Fentress was woken up at midnight by the sounds of people running through his back yard. He investigated, and found eighteen-year-old Paul Masters, a popular high school senior, hiding in his garden. Masters had been in a fight, and was fleeing the police when Fentress faced him with the handgun. After he was assured that Paul wasnt a threat, Fentress invited the teen into his house for a drink and a snack. Paul happily accepted.

After getting the young man drunk, Fentress lured him into the basement of his home, asking for help in moving some plywood boards. When Paul picked up a board, Fentress pulled out his .38 and demanded the teenager comply with being tied up. Fentress used a clothesline to bind Paul’s hands and feet, and then began to sexually molest him. He attempted to give Paul oral sex, but when he couldnt get the boys penis erect he became enraged; as the terrified boy pled with him, Fentress took a razor blade and cut off Paul’s testicles, scrotal sac, and penis.

Leaving the screaming teenager downstairs, Fentress went to the kitchen, put cooking oil in a pan, and fried Paul Masters mutilated genitals until they were crispy. Then, using his best china and silverware, Fentress ate the organs.

Fentress went back to the basement and found Paul Masters alive and conscious, though bleeding heavily from his wounds. The mild-looking history teacher finished the poor boy off with two bullets to the head, and attempted to carry his body upstairs and clean up the blood splashed.everywhere. When he realized he had made too much mess, Fentress calmly called his lawyer and confessed to killing Paul Masters. The lawyer called the police.

The Poughkeepsie community was aghast that such a normal-looking man could commit such a shocking crime. Fentress originally pled not guilty to Paul Masters’ murder, but switched to an insanity plea. Three psychiatric experts (including one hired by the Masters family) testified that Albert Fentress was temporarily psychotic when he killed Paul, though he had exhibited planning when he got the victim drunk and had attempted to hide his crime. The judge accepted the insanity plea, and Fentress was committed to a psychiatric hospital. He has been committed ever since, despite a few appeals for freedom.

Years after the tragedy of Jonestown, Sharon Mills still has mixed emotions about Jim Jones. She was a teenager when Jim entered her life and married her sister, Marceline.

When I first met Jim, in 1948, I was 9 years old, and he was 17 years old. He had come to our house to see Marceline, and I was sitting on the floor playing with my doll house. He had such dark, dark black hair, brown eyes, and such a soft face. He sat down on the floor with me and asked questions about the doll house.
There were other boys who had come to see Marceline and Eloise, and they’d give me a nickel or a quarter to get out of the way. But I felt Jim liked me.
He was like a big brother I didn’t have. When he came into my life I had rheumatic fever and had been ill in bed for about a year. He paid attention to me and was just very, very positive. He knew I was lonely and bought me a a registered, wire-haired terrier. Then he and Marceline would take me to Glen Miller Park, and he’d carry me. He also took my grandmother and me to the first drive-in movie I ever saw.  He taught me how to drive. He was also very encouraging of me living my life to what he thought was a good full potential.
But then Jim began to change. Almost in front of my eyes. He was so attentive to Marceline at first. But I’d go stay with them when they lived in Indianapolis. And it was obvious to me, at age 14, that they didn’t have such a great marriage after all. One time, Marceline told me, ‘Sharon, don’t ever marry a domineering man.

On the 8th of March, 1970, 18-year-old Jacqueline Ansell-Lamb was attempting to hitchhike a ride to Manchester from London after attending a weekend party. It was around 2:30PM when her boyfriend dropped her off at Bradkley Hill interchange. He watched her walk down the motorway with her thumb thrust out at her side before he drove away. During the 1970s, hitchhiking was a very common method of travel. It would be the last time he ever saw her alive.

Several witnesses would later say they saw Jacqueline on the motorway, attempting to secure a lift. At some point, somebody stopped to pick up Jacqueline but they never took her home. Six days later, a farmer found Jacqueline’s body off a rural road near Square Wood, Mere, Knutsford. She had been raped and then strangled with an electric cord. She had a number of bruises and cuts on both her neck and face indicating she had desperately attempted to defend herself against her killer.

An investigation into her slaying resulted in one witness coming forward to claim he had seen Jacqueline climb into a saloon car at some point between 4pm and 5pm. He said the car pulled over at the Keele Services station on the M6. Another witness soon came forward to say they had seen Jacqueline in the Polar Transport Cafe in High Legh near Knutsford later on in the evening. She had allegedly been with a man and police subsequently released a composite sketch of the man. He was described as being around 5 feet 9 inches and of medium build; he was also wearing a dark suit and the witness believed he was driving a white jaguar. The last potential sighting of Jacquelin came from a couple who allegedly saw her thumbing a ride less than a mile from where her body would be found.

Since her murder, theories have abounded.

Some have suggested that Jacqueline’s killer was Peter Sutcliffe, the infamous “Yorkshire Ripper.” Jacqueline had a wound to the back of her skull much like the other victims’ of Sutcliffe. However, no evidence could tie him to the murder. Another theory was that the murder was connected to the murder of Barbara Mayo, who was killed seven months after Jacqueline. The murders are eerily similar - Barbara had been hitchhiking from London to Yorkshire when she was raped and strangled. In 2008, retired librarian Harvey Richardson confessed from beyond the grave to the 1970 murder of Lorraine Marguerite Jacob. His confession was found hidden in a shoebox in his home following his death. Also in the shoebox, was newspaper clippings about Jacqueline’s murder.

To this day, nobody has ever been charged with the murder of Jacqueline Ansell-Lamb.

‪Sally Ann McNelly, 18, and Shane Paul Stewart, 17, were a teenage couple from San Angelo, Texas. On the 4th of July, 1988, they attended a fireworks display at Lake Nasworhy. The following morning, a lake ranger discovered Stewart’s abandoned Chevrolet Cameo parked near the O.C. Fisher Reservoir several miles from Lake Nasworhy. With the couple nowhere to be found, they were reported missing.‬ ‪

‬ ‪Four months later, hunters stumbled across skeletal remains in a pasture south of Twin Buttes. The remains were identified as Sally and Shane and an autopsy concluded that they had been killed by shotgun blasts to the head. At a time when satanic panic was rife, rumours soon started to circulate that they had been murdered by a satanic cult that they were both involved in. According to friends, Sally and Shane attended parities with occult activities. It was alleged that the couple were involved in a satanic cult. Years later, investigators would rule the satanic cult theory out.‬ ‪

‬ ‪The case eventually went cold but in 2017, there was a breakthrough when John Cyrus Gilbreath was pulled over on suspicion of possessing marijuana in Texas. When police searched his home, they found three Audi tapes with “SS” on them, a lock of hair, blood and a fingernail which could link him to the double murder. He has since been named as a person of interest in the cold case.‬
